The Learning Trust Awards $1.1 Million Gift to George Washington University

Irvine, California - January 23, 2002 - The Learning Trust announced today that it has awarded a gift valued at over $1.1 million to the knowledge management program at George Washington University. The gift, comprised of cash, software, computer hardware, and consulting services, will play a prominent role in technology management research at the University by employing software-enabled roadmapping.

"We are enthusiastic about the research taking place by students and faculty at George Washington University and look forward to uncovering powerful insights into how planning and strategy work together to create knowledge and action," said Carl Dietz, Chairman of The Learning Trust.

The students and faculty of the program plan to use the Geneva Vision Strategist solution provided by The Learning Trust to analyze the alignment of cross functional business areas of an organization at any time into the future around innovation, product development and exploiting opportunities.

"Executives taking our courses always want to know the benefits of knowledge management. Now, through the generosity of The Learning Trust, we can clearly demonstrate that the time and cost of making strategic decisions can be dramatically reduced. With the help of Vision Strategist, they can see first-hand the value of bringing the right intellectual assets to bear on a problem. This greatly enriches their learning experience. Personally, I can hardly wait to apply the tool to our own in-house technology roadmapping process," noted Dr. Arthur J. Murray, Managing Director of the Institute of Knowledge Management at George Washington University.
