The Learning Trust Presents $1.1 Million Gift to Penn State University
IRVINE, Calif., November 28, 2001 - The Learning Trust announced today that it has provided a gift valued at over $1.1 million to Pennsylvania State University's Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. The gift, comprised of cash, software, computer hardware, and consulting services, will play a prominent role in Penn State research using technology roadmapping and will be used as a training tool in graduate-level classes.
Penn State Assistant Professor Irene Petrick, PhD. plans to use the Geneva Vision Strategist solution provided by The Learning Trust to link industry-level roadmaps across various sectors and use the information to help organizations develop effective roadmaps. Vision Strategist will also assist Dr. Petrick with identifying discontinuous technologies and modeling the pace of technology in her graduate-level course, Management of Advanced Technologies.
"The Learning Trust's generous donation to Penn State's industrial engineering program provides significant support for our pioneering research into industrial technology management," said Dr. Richard J. Koubek, professor and head of the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. "As our graduate students use this powerful software to explore roadmapping, they'll gain invaluable, high-level engineering skills in integrating diverse sets of knowledge for strategic planning."
"The Learning Trust is proud to participate with Penn State University in their research and development of technology management practices. By leveraging their outstanding research capabilities and educational opportunities, we hope to encourage the advancement of strategic planning practices," said Carl Dietz, Chairman of The Learning Trust.
