The Learning Trust Strategic Roadmapping Conference a Success

Irvine, California - December 19, 2001 - The Learning Trust, a leading enterprise software firm specializing in strategic forecasting, is pleased to announce the overwhelming success of its inaugural strategic roadmapping conference, Strategic Roadmapping: The Practice and the Methods. The event held on December 6-7 in La Jolla, California drew attendees from a broad range of industries, representing corporate, education, and military organizations.

"We would like to thank the faculty and attendees for their participation in making this conference a tremendous success. The support and enthusiasm for the practice of strategic roadmapping affirms its utility and propels the continued enhancements to our Geneva Vision Strategist software solution," said Carl Dietz, The Learning Trust Chairman and CEO. "A special thanks goes out to our employees for their great efforts and for setting the standard for future conferences."

A key highlight of the event was the case study involving Husky Injection Molding in which the attendees and faculty leveraged their knowledge and experience to analyze the company's forecasting process.

Other highlights of the conference included presentations from roadmapping authorities from the corporate and educational realm. Dr. Thomas Kappel of Tellabs delivered a thought-provoking address on the behavior of roadmapping. Jim Richey, Director of Strategic Planning at Motorola, educated the audience on the company's roadmapping initiative, One Motorola Roadmap. Dr. Irene Petrick of Penn State University discussed the underlying culture changes needed to implement roadmapping and Dr. Rob Phaal of University of Cambridge lectured on roadmapping in practice. Rounding out the roster, Bob Schaller of George Mason University addressed the early history of roadmapping and Moore's Law, and Dr. Ed Coyle of Purdue University presented the establishment of the University's Laboratory of the Future.

At the conclusion of the conference, attendees were given the opportunity to anonymously give their feedback regarding the event through an online survey. Over 80% of those who responded noted that most aspects of the event exceeded their expectations or were excellent.

One of the many positive comments from attendees came from Industry Canada. "Great course for learning about the nuts and bolts of Technology Roadmapping," said Geoff Nimmo of Industry Canada. "When your teachers are practitioners in the field, the lessons become much more valuable," he added.
